Welcome to 7A !   We are very excited to start the new year with you!
Below is a letter containing all the Class Expectations for 7th grade math.

Class Expectations for 7A Mathematics

             2015 - 2016  Mrs. Forrest

Welcome!  Here is the information you need to be successful in 7A math class.
You are expected to come to class prepared with the following materials each day:
(There is a class set of math books in the room. Please leave your book at home.)
A three-ringed binder (1 inch) with paper and dividers or a pocket
folder and notebook.
Ipad and stylus
An inexpensive calculator with the four operations and a square root function
A pencil with an eraser

Upon entering the classroom, take your seat, take out your homework, and be ready to begin class.

Remember - Bring all of your materials required for class with you.  You will not be allowed to leave class to retrieve forgotten items from your lockers after the first two weeks of school.

Always raise your hand and wait patiently to be called on.  Have respect for all of your classmates and the questions or answers with which they are concerned.

Make up work promptly if class is missed.  Everyone should have a “homework buddy” whom you may call to get your homework assignment when you are absent.  Homework will always be listed in the “Homework Folder”.  You have one day to make up one day’s work that is missed, two days for two days’ work missed, etc.  Tests will be made up after school on Monday or Wednesday afternoon until 3:00 or any other day upon request.

There will be homework assigned every night
It should take approximately 20 - 30 minutes to complete.  The purpose of homework is to provide each of you the opportunity to explore the concepts and to practice the skills being introduced during class. Homework is reviewed the day following the assignment and questions concerning any difficulties will be answered. If three homework assignments in a row are missed, a parent/guardian will be notified.

Extra help will be on Monday and Wednesday afternoons until 3:00 or any other day until 2:30. There are late buses available at 3:00 on both Monday and Wednesday.  If there is a discipline problem during class, one warning will be issued.  If there is another problem, that individual will be required to stay after school.  After the third time, that student’s parent/guardian will be called.
You will be graded on homework, quizzes, tests, projects, and presentations, as well as class participation and group activities. All tests and quizzes will be kept on file in your math portfolio in the classroom and may be taken home upon request.
One last note  -  In order to begin this year successfully, please take the time to review any multiplication facts which you may have forgotten.  It is extremely important that this foundation is present so that you may draw upon that knowledge as you acquire and utilize new skills involving ratios, proportions, percents, integers, equations, and probability.  You will be tested on those facts in the first couple of weeks.

Work hard and have a great year!
